Chinese technology is everywhere. From phones to cameras, cars to solar panels. That raises an important question: how can organisations make technology choices that are not only cost-effective, but also safe and future-proof?
That topic came up in the TV programme Stand van Nederland: Wereld op Scherp, where DENS shared real-world insights into battery storage developed and built in the Netherlands.
Looking closer at technology choices
In the programme, several examples were given of organisations paying closer attention to where their technology comes from. The City of Amsterdam is replacing certain cameras. Water boards are making stricter demands on suppliers during new tenders. The common theme: more and more parties want to know who is behind the technology they rely on, and what that means for continuity and security.
China is a major producer of technology. That ensures wide availability and competitive prices. At the same time, many European organisations are searching for a better balance between price, reliability and safety. That balance starts with transparency about hardware, software and updates.
Battery technology from Helmond
From its base in Helmond, DENS builds mobile battery systems for energy storage. These systems provide charging for electric equipment on construction sites, help manage peak demand in areas with grid congestion, or deliver temporary power for projects and events. A Powerhub can be charged where renewable power is abundant and deployed wherever extra capacity is required. The result: less stress on the grid and days of emission-free work on location.
As Swinkels put it in the programme, “The battery is a big power bank. You charge it where you can, and you use it where you must.”

Making a conscious choice
Choosing the right battery system is not about fear. It is about keeping projects running smoothly, keeping control of your own data, and ensuring that service is always available. Key factors are modular design, clear separation between battery, inverter, cooling and energy management, transparent control systems, secure and where needed local updates, and proven safety standards. With European-made control, transparent software and solid support, projects can operate cleanly, quietly and reliably today and tomorrow.
